When it comes to the U.S. battle with ISIS in Iraq, we’ve been told there will be no ground troops – only air strikes. Someone should tell that to the nearly 100 U.S. military ‘advisers’ stationed at a base in Iraq. They engaged in combat with ISIS after the base was attacked.

According to a report by Inquisr:

American troops in Iraq had their first actual battle with ISIS troops after the Islamist militants tried to overrun a base, an encounter that left the ISIS troops decimated and in retreat.

The attack took place near the Ein al-Asad base, which includes close to 100 U.S. military advisers. The U.S. troops, armed with “light and medium weapons,” and were able to inflict casualties against the ISIS fighters, forcing them to retreat, Shafaq News reported. The American troops were also aided by fighter jets, which directed air strikes against the ISIS troops that “silenced their heavy sources of fire.”

“US forces intervened because of ISIS started to come near the base, which they are stationed in so out of self-defense,” said Sheikh Mahmud Nimrawi, a prominent tribal leader.

The incident was the first time that American troops clashed with ISIS forces on the ground in Iraq. For several weeks, the United States has led a series of air strikes against ISIS positions in Iraq and Syria, ones aimed at crippling the militant group’s ability to move about the country and coordinate attacks.

As for the U.S. role at Ein al-Asad, the ‘advisers’ have barely been there a month and were sent to help train Iraqi forces. It would appear they got a pretty good lesson.

These IS guys are definitely not happy campers

Prez Jeb will sort out those IS jokers. He'll send a division of Cuban-immigrant Army recruits to slice 'em up with machetes.

The Bushes need a new generation of strategic bombers (from miles up), like their namesake Bush I (aka the wimp).

EB:
"Prez Jeb will sort out those IS jokers. He'll send a division of Cuban-immigrant Army recruits to slice 'em up with machetes."

Viewing this as a possible precursor to more long-term strategy adjustments also relating to recent turns of events, wondering still how war-displaced suicidal IS left-overs can be so motivated to carry out such an attack, the 'enemy' were set up by their 'post-war' treatment and devastation of so many towns and cities [as has come down in Syria in the meantime] and were again set up this time to apparently, yes, make more conflict and thereby occupation inevitable.

It's not such an isolated case historically, though.  Many Iraqis have gone past believing there's a way back to their former modest glory.

From http://www.nasty-bali.org/ re: Balinese History:

The Balinese king remained in power but had to recognize Dutch sovereignty and promise not to enter into agreements with any other Europeans. The Dutch then conquered Lombok in 1894 which was ruled by the Karangasem kingdom in East Bali, so it too fell to Dutch rule. The Balinese kings of Gianyar and Bangli sought protection against their rivals from and recognized Dutch rule over their kingdoms in 1900, leaving only Badung, Tabanan and Klungkung outside Dutch rule. Not content with that the Dutch engineered a false Chinese shipwreck off Sanur which they knew the Balinese under local law but against Dutch law would plunder, which the Dutch then used as an excuse to send five warships whose artillery fired for days on Badung (Denpasar). Finally 3,000 well armed Dutch troops marched into the capital on 20 September 1906 and were met by the entire Royal family and their entourage who had just burned down their own palaces to prevent them falling into Dutch hands. The mass royal party ceremonially dressed with only ceremonial "kris" (daggers) then killed their own king at his own request and began to throw their jewels at the Dutch. In an orgy of death, the Balinese royals allowed themselves to be killed by the Dutch and by suicide themselves in what was called a "Puputan" (ending of an empire). The suicide was reported as so complete that it is believed none of Bali's royal family survived and is part of the reason no-one could claim Bali back as a kingdom at the end of Dutch rule.

They would rather die than give up to the false-flagging-for-invasion enemy. The tragedy of their conditions has become motivation enough now.
