Washington Hints at a Military “Plan B” in Syria in the Event that the Ceasefire Fails

Kerry: We are testing the seriousness of the Russians and Iranians in reaching a solution

The US Secretary of State John Kerry said that the United States may resort to an alternative “Plan B” and a new military initiative in Syria in the event that there is a lack of progress in securing a ceasefire in the country.

Kerry said in an interview with David Ignatius, a journalist at The Washington Post, that he has hoped Moscow would realise that reaching a peaceful solution would guarantee a political transition that would serve its interests since the beginning of the Russian intervention in the Syrian conflict. However, Moscow has failed to “evaluate the disaster of the war continuing and it believes that it will win” by supporting the Assad regime with airstrikes. He added, “What we’re doing is testing [Russian and Iranian] seriousness,” he said. “And if they’re not serious, then there has to be consideration of a Plan B. . . . You can’t just sit there.”

In response to American politicians’ criticisms of the Obama administration’s “timid” policy towards Syria, Kerry defended the political negotiations to reach a ceasefire, and said that “the talks need maturity and if one of the parties believe that it is the winner (on the ground), it will ask for conditions that will not be accepted by the losing party which will result in the continuation of the massacre”.

This American threat to adopt an alternative plan came before the international conference to discuss the Syrian crisis in the German city of Munich which is scheduled to take place tomorrow. An official at the American State Department said that consultations between Washington and Moscow regarding the cease-fire in Syria and humanitarian aid are ongoing and alluded to the existence of some “constructive” ideas.

Meanwhile, Ankara summoned the US ambassador in protest after the US State Department spokesman John Kirby said that Washington did not regard Syria’s Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) as a terrorist organisation.

The veil in the veiled threat of a US military Plan B in Syria doesn't provide much cover.  Actually it's just more undisclosed Plan A with a new operational identity and strategic implementation of ... the A instead of the B.

They are even claiming it will be a campaign against ISIS again.  Ceasefire Sheeshmire.

At what point do you say the zionists are negotiating from a position of weakness?  What forces Putin?

"At what point do you say the zionists are negotiating from a position of weakness? ..."

That's a pointed question indeed. Since the belligerent 'royals' behind all this US-cum-NATO-cum-Coalition policy programming neither want to be identified as the neocon Zionists they are, nor ever want to be blamed for he worst outcomes in known human history - with what we now see in the Middle East and what can be expected 'develop' in the region into the future - this is a question not readily posed, unless maybe you read the comments section on RT. It seems safe to assume though that they don't want their name on matters of crisis and that the masters are still savoring an ability to macro-manage from the wings. The power is real and widely recognized, but scarcely challenged.

If we go a step further and imagine there is a festering weakness at the controls because of lingering relevance of truth and awareness about them by those unwillingly obligated to take their lead, they're likely to up the stakes with such a convenient monster as IS at large. So long as the product is casualty, they traditionally keep the upper hand. Only getting caught in the act of sabotage could reverse the ability to override and yet that should have been possible so many times before.

Heavy reliance on bad information does provide hope that a kind of cumulative 'load' effect of the lies could potentially involve a toppling. What else is there to go on? Russia calls their bluff. Does this have much impact?

You mention RT lightly, but the world has awoken to the purely one-sidedness of western media.  Even Trump is saying the rags are all failing.  Just read where Kerry is attacking Russia for bombing the moderate rebels, not just the jihadists.  I can imagine Putin then asking, "then tell us who is who, and how you know this."  Only RT would run hard with the western logical dilemma, Kerry scratching that big oafy head, not answering the question...  Meanwhile US military continues their blundering keystone cop act, bombing hospitals, blaming Russians when Russia has proof the US did it, Pentagon led by Ash Carter, splitting image of Buddy Hacket...  The west is looking weak, even starting to look like just an irrelevant side man, like Larry of the Three Stooges.
